Racist Algorithm or Racist Society?

My dad once told me "it's always human error, machines work as intended" but that brings an interesting thought to mind with the focus now being on AI.  How can we create a good model of AI if there are inherent biases in our cognitive/societal thinking.

Example: Explain the following screenshots and ask yourself what could have caused this to happen?

Let's hypothesize here on what is happening.  Is this just a simple issue of "different sellers" on Amazon and each one of them choosing their own price?  Could this be a reflection of some sort of pricing algorithm that has realized there are more sets of one variation of the toy being ordered than the others? Or is this some cold heartless seller who decided to prey on the potential that racist people will pay more for one set than the other?

I do not have the answers here, just thinking outloud.
